MONUSCO and NGO “Invisible Children” organize child protection training workshop in Dungu

Dungu, 31 January 2014 – The Child Protection Office of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo (MONUSCO), in collaboration with Dungu-based representatives of the NGO Invisible Children, organized a two-day workshop on the protection of children in armed conflicts starting 30 January 2014 at the Catholic Center Elikya.

Intended for members of the NGO Invisible Children and its partner organizations, namely the Diocesan Committee on Justice and Peace, Solidarity and Comprehensive Assistance to Deprived Persons, and for staff of partner community radio stations, this training workshop was held as part of efforts to reinforce the monitoring and communication system.

The goal of this training was to enable the participants to gain a better understanding of child protection related issues; to improve collaboration between MONUSCO and Invisible Children regarding management of information about violations of children’s rights; to strengthen the capacity of field personnel with respect to protection of conflict-affected children; and to help the participants understand the Action Plan and the guidelines for its implementation.
