MONUSCO raises awareness of the need for peace in school environment in Kasaï Occidental province


Thursday 03 April 2014 - in Kananga, the administrative capital of Western Kasaï province, the UN Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) organized through its Public Information Section in partnership with the “Centre de Réflexion pour le Développement du Kasaï Occidental/Reflextion Center for the Development of Western Kasai)” (CRDKO) a reflection day on “peace in school environment” with a view to raising population’s awareness of the importance of peace in schools.

The session brought together 120 participants comprising students, teachers and staff of the “Alliance Franco-congolaise de Kananga”.

Mr. Charles Tshioni, the Focal Point of the “Noyau des Médiateurs et Bâtisseur de Paix pour la ville de Kananga/Core of Mediators and Peace-Builders for the city of Kananga” highlighted the importance of tolerance as a key element for maintaining peace in school environment. “Let us mobilize ourselves in favor of peace. Let us avoid being exploited in the different conflicts so as to block the development of our Province. Let us be tolerant and resolve peacefully the conflicts erupting in our schools,” he urged.
