Kisangani, 31 octobre 2014 – The head of MONUSCO Public Information section in Kisangani, the Eastern Province held a working meeting with the new UNPC team in the Eastern Province. The meeting was held at the Hall Ghislaine Dupont, situated on Avenue des Cocotiers, Kisangani.

The agenda of the meeting included the following items: upgrading partnership between MONUSCO and UNPC through information sharing, training workshops, refresher courses for media professionals working for the different radios and media houses both in Kisangani and the hinterlands to improve the quality of their performance.

The head of the UNPC/Eastern Province, Mr. Damas Esole Kaya who works for the public television and radio broadcast in Kisangani appealed to MONUSCO for support to help him meet the challenges his committee is confronted with, namely: dedicated facilities for the committee’s activities and the census of the different media houses in the Eastern Province. The committee is made up of 16 membres including one woman. Mr. Kaya further thanked MONUSCO, through its Public Information Section for their contribution to the promotion of the local press. MONUSCO Public Information in Kisangani, reiterated the Mission’s willingness to further contribute to the promotion of the press in the Eastern province within the framework of its mandate.
