Kisangani: MONUSCO organizes a training workshop for local journalists


Thursday 2 July in Kisangani, Oriental Province, saw the opening of a three-day training workshop on “the practice of political journalism » for the benefit of 40 journalists from different radio stations across the province.

The workshop is organized by the Public Information Division of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo (MONUSCO), in partnership with the Community Media Network of Oriental Province (REMACPO).

The aim is to build the capacity of the participant journalists, including chief editors and editorial secretaries, to ensure sound journalistic practices on a daily basis as well as in election period.

The opening ceremony of the workshop was co-presided over by the provincial minister of Interior, Mr. Jean Claude Esuka Alfani, and the head of the Political Affairs section of MONUSCO-Kisangani, Mme Leocadie Nahishakiye.

In her remarks, Mme Nahishakiye, who represented the MONUSCO Head of Office in Kisangani, reaffirmed the availability of MONUSCO, within its mandate, to assist the different institutions and also to support projects that promote development of Oriental Province. .

For his part, the provincial minister of the Interior thanked MONUSCO for its financial, technical and organizational support. Mr. Esuka Alfani afterwards urged the participants to take full advantage of the workshop to hone their skills and improve on their professional capacities.
