Beni: Justice Support Section organized an Open Day on Justice

On 3 September, MONUSCO Justice Support Section Beni organized a workshop for the judiciary actors and Civil Society members in Beni. On 4 September, an Open Day was organized following the workshop.

The workshop offered an opportunity to the judiciary actors (civilians and military) as well as the civil society members to reflect on the dispensation of justice in Beni. The occasion was offered to the speakers, especially the Chief of the High Court, Mr. Alain Kanane Sanvura; the Chief Prosecutor, Mr. Damien Kambale Kahongya; the Chief of the Court of Peace, Mr. Louis-d ’or M’Putu Kitenge; the Chief of Public Prosecutor’s Office to the Court of Peace, Mr. Yves Muntobo Peke; the Chief of the Military Court for the Garrison/Captain-Magistrate Thierry Kalemba Ngoyi; the First Deputy Military Auditor for the Garrison, Captain-magistrate Lwamba Songe and SODPAD coordinator “Solidarity for Peace and Development», Mr. Pépin Paluku Kavota, altogether reviewed the realities, expectations and perspectives featuring the dispensation of justice in the town of Beni.

Participants also took the opportunity to propose a number of recommendations to the judiciary actors, civil society members and justice support partners. An open Day was organized on 4 September after the workshop in front of the Justice House of Beni. The Chief of the Supreme Court, the Chief of the Court of Peace, and Representatives of the Military Court for the Military Garrison answered the questions and concerns raised by the populations who were keen to know about their judiciary system.
