In Sange, Martin Kobler promises the displaced from Mutarule he will plead their case with the Congo

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in the DR Congo made that promise on Monday, 4 May 2015 during his security evaluation trip to Uvira territory, South Kivu.  On this visit, his third to the region in 11 months, Martin Kobler observed that little had been done for people displaced from Mutarule nearly a year ago to return to their village. Mr. Kobler promised he would continue advocating with the provincial and national authorities to address the case of the Ruzizi Plain in general and  Mutarule in particular.

Sange, 2 May 2015 -  The Association for Women’s Promotion and Endogenous Development (AFPDE), a local NGO operating in Uvira, South Kivu, held in Sange, from Monday 27 April to Friday 1st May, a training seminar for peer educators on HIV/AIDS.

MONUSCO’s mandate explained to the students of “Institut MUSOYI in Shamwana”

Manono (North Katanga) – “Understanding the concept of island of stability and the UNSC Resolution 2211” is theme selected for the sensitization session organized by MONUSCO’s public information section with a view to sensitizing the students of the “Institut MUSOYI” in Shamwana, a community situated 175 Km from the south-east of the Manono center. The institute is participating for the first time in the ‘State exams” after 3 years’ absence due to repeated raids by the Maï-Maï-Kata-Katanga.

Journalists in Bas-Uélé receive training in information reporting during election periods

«The role of media in election periods”: this was the main theme discussed in Buta, Bas-Uélé, Oriental Province, by the representative of the Public Information Office of MONUSCO, on the side-lines of the workshop on human rights and elections, held from 20 to 23 April.  This training took place at the headquarters of the Radio communautaire orientale (RACOR) and was attended by three media operating in Buta.

Martin Kobler, Head of MONUSCO, condemns the deadly attack against peacekeepers in Beni territory

Kinshasa, 5 May 2015 - "I strongly condemn the ambush perpetrated against Tanzanian Peacekeepers deployed in Beni region to protect the population.”

“I want to express my sincere condolences to the families of those who died in combat. I also express my solidarity with the injured and promise to visit them on Wednesday”, said Martin Kobler, Head of MONUSCO.


The Tanzanian unit from the Force Intervention Brigade was ambushed along the Mavivi-Mayimoya axis in Kikiki village located 11 km South of Eringeti resulting in several casualties and injured among the Peacekeepers.
