Martin Kobler expresses MONUSCO’s solidarity with Congolese people
following the railway tragedy in Kamina

Kinshasa, 23 April 2014 - Martin Kobler, Head of MONUSCO expresses heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims of the tragic train accident in the vicinity of Kamina. Mr. Kobler offered MONUSCO’s support to the local authorities as part of rescue efforts. “I instructed our services to bring all the necessary assistance to provincial authorities and population,” said the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General in the DRC.

Immediately after the news about the accident was announced, a MONUSCO medical team in Kamina moved to the scene of the accident to provide first aids.
“I am deeply devastated by the death of those Congolese people and my thoughts go out to the bereaved families following this tragic accident, said Mr. Kobler, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”
