Force commander in Ituri

General Ulisses, MONUSCO's force commander, met with provincial authorities in Ituri to express his solidarity, strengthen collaboration with the FARDC, and reaffirm the priority given to protecting civilians in the face of security challenges.

By strengthening these local capacities, MONUSCO is helping to prepare for a smooth transition to governance that is fully assumed by local actors.

Beni: MONUSCO builds a building for civil society

Civil society in the territory of Beni, in North Kivu, will soon have a functional building to meet, deliberate and work in better conditions. Construction work began on Tuesday, August 5 in Oicha, the territorial capital, by MONUSCO's Civil Affairs Section.

Prison officers were decorated in Kinshasa for their commitment to a more humane prison system in the DRC. "This medal is not just a tribute. Think of it as recognition, as renewed commitment", said MONUSCO chief Bintou keita.

The BiEster Foundation, which has been involved for several years in psychosocial support, economic empowerment and the promotion of women's rights in conflict zones, relies on concrete strategies to raise women's awareness and encourage their active participation in peace processes.

Goma: BiEster foundation and MONUSCO want to strengthen women's resilience in the face of conflicts

On July 31, 2025, International African Women's Day, the BiEster Foundation, in collaboration with MONUSCO's gender section, organized a capacity-building workshop for about thirty women from various local organizations.

At the entrance to the MONUSCO base in Fataki, a locality situated in the territory of Djugu, about sixty kilometers north of Bunia, makeshift shelters line up along the trenches dug around the perimeter secured by Nepalese peacekeepers.

In Kinshasa, conferences, exhibitions and a film to celebrate African women

From August 13-14, 2025, the feminist movement Biso Basi Telema, in partnership with MONUSCO's Gender section, organized a series of activities in Kinshasa to celebrate African Women's Day. This gathering brought together women working in various sectors of activity.
