Statement by the SRSG, Mrs. Bintou Keita, to the Security Council on Friday, June 27, 2025

Madam President,

Distinguished members of the Security Council,
His Excellency Mr. Hyppolite Mfulu, Chargé d’Affaires of the Permanent Mission of the Democratic Republic of the Congo,
His Excellency Ambassador Karoli Martin Ngoga, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Rwanda,
Thank you for the opportunity to brief today on the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
I wish to begin by congratulating the Democratic Republic of the Congo for its election as Vice-President of the 80th session of the General Assembly and as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for ‘26 to ‘27. These milestones reflect the General Assembly’s confidence in the leadership of the Democratic Republic of the Congo within the international community.
