UN Special Representative meets with National Leader of Turkmenistan on the occasion of Neutrality Anniversary

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Central Asia and Head of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Kaha Imnadze, met with H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of Turkmen People and Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.

Mr. Imnadze conveyed greetings from the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and thanked for Turkmenistan’s steadfast support to UN. Discussion focused on current cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, including regional priorities in the areas relevant to preventive diplomacy and strengthening of cooperation in Central Asia.

The initiatives of Turkmenistan on the proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, as well as the upcoming International Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust (2025), the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th Anniversary of the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan to be held in Ashgabat on 11-12 December were noted.

During the meeting, commitment to close interaction between Turkmenistan and the United Nations was confirmed.
