Kisangani Central Prison’s Female Inmates Receive Donation

Kisangani, 7 March 2011 – On the eve of the commemoration of the International Women's Day, the UN Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) and the local church donated foodstuffs and a specially-made cloth to the female inmates of the central prison of Kisangani, in Orientale province.

These gifts were a goodwill gesture to assist the female inmates, and to make them realize that they are not forgotten. Even as inmates, they also deserve to celebrate Women's Day like their counterparts elsewhere in the world, MONUSCO penitentiary staff, Captain Béatrice Were said.
