MONUSCO provides assistance to deprived children of Kisangani

Kisangani, 9 November 2012 – In Kisangani, Province Orientale, the United Nations Day (on 24 October) was celebrated on 7 November.

On that occasion, the Office of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), through the Office of Public Information donated food and non-food items to the province's deprived children.

Annuarité, the Supplementary Nutritional Centre and the Maison Saint-Laurent were the beneficiaries of this donation that included rice, oil, milk, sugar, soap and detergents. This will contribute to bringing some relief to the suffering of vulnerable young people; most of them are orphans or children who were abandoned and then taken care of in charitable organizations.
