03 Sep 2016 - Kinshasa 3 September 2016 – On 31 August 2016, a man having introduced himself as FDLR combatant surrendered to MONUSCO DDR/RR staff in Sange (South-Kivu), to apply for his repatriation to Rwanda. After additional verification, MONUSCO suspects this person could be “Major Rafiki Castro Yacinthe” as allegedly being involved in gross human rights abuses against civilians, including the Kamananga slaughters in the South-Kivu province on 14 May 2012.
15 Aug 2016 - Kinshasa -14 August 2016. The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in DRC and Head of MONUSCO, Maman Sambo Sidikou, offers his condolences to the Congolese people in general and to the population of Beni in particular, following the attack on the civilian population during the night of 13 to 14 August 2016, in the village of Rwangoma in the Beni area, allegedly committed by the ADF.

28 Jun 2016 - Kinshasa, 26 June 2016 – On the occasion of the commemoration of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, this 26 June 2016, the United Nations Joint Human Rights Office in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the National Human Rights Commission and Human Rights NGOs, organized in Kinshasa and across the country, a number of activities: training, sensitization, advocacy and dissemination in favor of different target groups.
27 May 2016 - Goma, eastern DRC, 26 May 2016 - The representatives of the Guarantors of the Peace, Security and Cooperation (PSC) Framework comprising of the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), travelled to Kanyabayonga and Nyamilima on 25 May 2016, in eastern DRC.
