MONUSCO-Uvira staff sensitized on sexual exploitation and abuse!

Uvira, 27 August 2015 – From Monday 24 through Thursday 27 August 2015, staff members of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the DRC were sensitized on the United core values and standards, fight against sexual exploitation and abuse as well as harassment and other forms of misconduct to avoid, in order to preserve the United Nations reputation and image.

MONUSCO photo exhibition in Goma

Goma, 25 August 2015 – After Kinshasa and Lubumbashi, the city of Goma is hosting MONUSCO photo exhibition from 24 to 31 August. The objective of the photo exhibition is to show the Mission’s 15-year’s presence in DRC. The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General personally opened the exhibition which the Deputy-Governor of the North-Kivu province, Feller Lutahichirwa attended.

International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition

Martin Kobler, Head of MONUSCO, calls for the remembrance of the victims of slavery in order to draw inspiration from them


Kinshasa, 23 August 2015 – “The observance of the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the tragedy of slavery and slave trade. There can never be any justification for such barbarism. Let us pay homage to the dignity and resilience of the victims of slavery and the slave trade”, said Martin Kobler, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in the DRC, on the occasion of the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition.
