Martin Kobler, MONUSCO Chief, is seriously concerned by allegations of brutal acts against the population
of Masisi territory

Kinshasa, 13 February 2014: MONUSCO received reports about several gross human rights violations including a summary execution of over 70 men and women committed in the Nyamaboko villages I and II, Masisi territory, North Kivu province.

Martin Kobler, MONUSCO Chief expresses “serious concern over the allegations of the gross human rights violations deemed unacceptable; any person involved in such acts should face justice.”

The reports received by MONUSCO suggest that the summary executions were allegedly committed mainly by armed groups to spread terror among the population. The majority of the victims were killed with machete. MONUSCO shall spare no efforts to neutralize all the armed groups responsible for such acts. MONUSCO mission is on the ground to verify the allegations.
