The reopening of PNC station in this district is the culmination of several months’ advocacy efforts by MONUSCO Police (UNPOL) with PNC senior management. Local authorities present in the ceremony welcomed the event which they said would contribute to the enhancement of civilian protection against attacks from armed groups yet active in the district of Haut-Uele. They also thanked MONUSCO for its supports to the Congolese national police.
Since 2012, Dungu-based MONUSCO Police Officers have made huge efforts to restore state authority there. They secured the reopening of other police stations in Dungu, especially in the districts of Gangalana-bodio and Doruma. They further ensure monitoring of the construction of the premises hosting the Police in charge of child protection and gender in Dungu.
The ceremony wound up with a donation of office furniture in Nguilima by MONUSCO and a visit to the premises to host the offices and accommodations for police officers.
