Judiciary Inspectors’ Training Ceremony


Kinshasa, 6th November 2014

– FARDC General Auditors, General Ponde chaired the opening ceremony for the Judiciary Inspectors’ training held at Flat Hôtel Luntu in Kinshasa on 6 November 2014. In attendance, the Coordinator of the Judiciary Prosecutions Support Unit, the Representative of the Justice Support and Correction Unit of MONUSCO as well as of the Representative of the Chief of the International Migration Office.

Speeches were respectively delivered by the Representative of the head of the IOM, the Coordinator of the Judiciary Prosecutions Support Unit and by the FARDC General Auditor. Altogether, 46 participants, including 3women, all of whom FARDC officers and trainers attended the ceremony.

During the training session scheduled to run from 6 November 2014 through 19 December 2014, 13 modules will be taught by trainers made up of senior magistrates and military Judiciary Inspectors of FARDC as well as military Inspectors of MONUSCO Justice and Correction Support Unit. The modules will focus on the basic notions and operational aspects of investigations, and related rules of ethics.

The purpose of the training is doublefold: firstly to train new military personnel and secondly to increase the capacity of young Judiciary Inspectors on duty, which is part of MONUSCO mandate.

The UNSC Resolution 1925 of 31 May 2010 and other relevant Resolutions do mandate MONUSCO to assist DRC Government in enhancing the capacities of the judiciary institutions, especially military judiciary institutions.

The technical assistance provided by MONUSCO Justice and Correction Support Unit fits in with the training programme lead by Judiciary Prosecutions Support Unit designed to improve the service of the military judiciary institution to help them fight impunity and protect the Congolese populations effectively.

Logistic assistance for the activity was provided by IOM, the agency tasked to run the funds availed by the US « International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL).
