French Ambassador to the DRC applauds MONUSCO’s action

Beni, 26 November 2015: French Ambassador to the DRC, Alain Remy, paid a working visit to Beni/ North-Kivu province, on 26 November 2015, to enquire about the security situation in that area.

Upon his arrival in Beni, Alain Remy respectively met with MONUSCO and local government officials. “I heard lot of talks in Kinshasa about the security issue and I was keen to meet with Beni and MONUSCO senior officials, to have first-hand information in this regard,” he explained.

He acknowledged that MONUSCO’s responsibility in restoring security to Beni is huge and cannot be questioned; therefore, he said his country was prepared to provide support for the resolution of the war displaced persons in that area: “What the International Community has been doing through MONUSCO to improve the situation in Beni is out of question. A huge effort is being made by the United Nations Mission in this region. We are ready to join hands and work for the resolution, inter alia, of the issue relating to the displaced persons.”
