MONUSCO trains the FARDC on the notion of protection of civilians in North Kivu province


Goma, 9 December 2013 - MONUSCO Civil Affairs section organized a training of 30 officials of the Congolese National Armed Forces (FARDC) on the protection of civilians in Goma, North Kivu province, on 29 November 2013.

The objective of the training was to equip the FARDC with information that will enable them to better understand MONUSCO mandate and the need to be a complementary force in the field.

Several presentations were made throughout the day, including from the Human Rights section, the Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration, Repatriation, and Resettlement (DDRRR) program, the Child Protection unit, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the World Food Program (WFP), and the Conduct and Discipline unit of MONUSCO.
