MONUSCO raises awareness on the culture of peace in school environment in Western Kasai

Kananga, 7 March 2014.MONUSCO Public Information, in partnership with the “Ligue de la Zone Afrique pour la Défense du Droit des Enfants et Elèves (LIZADEEL)” held on Friday 14 March 2014, a public awareness session on the culture of peace in school environments” for a group of students and teachers from three schools: Institute Kananga I, Primary School PI-X and Scientific Institute Kele-Kele.

Nearly 150 participants took part in this meeting held at MONUSCO Welfare Hall. ”Education for a Culture of Peace is irreversible at this juncture characterized by conflict for some of the zones and post-conflict for others, which lead to the holding of these awareness campaign” Discussions were very productive. We need to organize more similar meetings,” said Fidelie Kapinga, 1st grade secondary school student of Institute Kananga I. After the session, all participants received school stationeries and publications on MONUSCO. It is worth noting that this meeting came after a previous one held on 03 February 2014 at Institute Bandayi and Lycée Annarete in Muamba Mbuyi, 26 km away from east Kananga.
