Kinshasa, 12 February 2026: The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) announces that Ms. Vivian van de Perre, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Interim Head of MONUSCO, will, following consultations with the Congolese national authorities, undertake a visit to Goma as part of the Mission’s preparations to support ceasefire monitoring and verification.

MONUSCO took over from an earlier UN peacekeeping operation – the United Nations Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) – on 1 July 2010. It was done in accordance with Security Council resolution 1925 of 28 May to reflect the new phase.
