Representatives from the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) and the Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE) recently participated in two capacity-building training sessions aimed at strengthening internal governance and oversight mechanisms within United Nations operations.
The training on the Local Committee on Contracts (LCC) took place from 24 to 27 February 2026, followed by a session on the Local Property Survey Board (LPSB) held from 3 to 5 March 2026 at the Regional Service Centre Entebbe in Uganda.
The sessions were delivered by Mr. Joseph Twine, Chairman of the Headquarters Committee on Contracts and the Headquarters Property Survey Board at United Nations Headquarters in New York. They provided participants with practical guidance on contract management, responsible stewardship of resources, and strengthened oversight and accountability mechanisms.
Through interactive discussions and the sharing of experiences, participants enhanced their knowledge and skills to support transparent, accountable and efficient decision-making across United Nations operations.
Strong leadership and support from Ms. Nicoleta Verestiuc, Director of Mission Support (DMS), MONUSCO, helped facilitate broad participation in the programme. Her continued commitment to capacity-building and professional development enabled colleagues from both MONUSCO and RSCE to take part in and benefit from this important initiative.
By investing in stronger systems and empowered personnel, United Nations entities continue to advance transparency, accountability and effective service delivery, reinforcing the implementation of their mandates in support of the communities they serve.
