Kinshasa, February 10, 2024 : The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Head of MONUSCO, Ms Bintou Keita, condemns the series of attacks on United Nations staff in Kinshasa on Saturday February 10 and calls on the Congolese judicial authorities to launch investigations with a view to prosecuting the perpetrators. Several UN vehicles were set on fire.
MONUSCO officially closed its base in Lubero, located in North-Kivu, eastern DRC, after 21 years presence. The event took place on Tuesday, 26 December 2023 in its military base; in attendance, various contingents, namely Indians, South-Africans, Moroccans, Nepalese, as well as some members of the local population.
