In Fataki, thousands of displaced persons find refuge near the MONUSCO base

Following the displacement of thousands of families seeking refuge near the MONUSCO base, a delegation from the United Nations Fifth Committee visited the site to assess needs and the impact of actions undertaken in support of the protection of civilians, alongside the Nepalese contingent and local authorities.

United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

MONUSCO took over from an earlier UN peacekeeping operation – the United Nations Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) – on 1 July 2010. It was done in accordance with Security Council resolution 1925 of 28 May to reflect the new phase.
