Ituri: MONUSCO rehabilitates Bogoro-Aveba Road


Bunia, 06 January 2011 - The Head of Ituri Office of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in DR Congo (MONUSCO) inaugurated the recently rehabilitated road between Bogoro and Aveba, in Irumu territory, last week. The rehabilitation task has been carried out by a contingent of the Nepalese Military Engineers of the Mission.


The rehabilitated 46 km long road will facilitate movement of the population of South Bahema and Walendu Bindi collectivities, respectively located 25 and 70 kilometres south of Bunia and will boost commercial and regular traffic.

The Head of MONUSCO/Ituri office, M'hand Ladjouzi, noted that the rehabilitation of the road which will bring people closer fell within the execution of MONUSCO mandate, whose central priority is protection of civilian population.
