Martin Kobler warns all armed groups not to take advantage of the security situation in eastern DRC

Kinshasa, 4 November 2013
: Special Representative of the Secretary General to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Head of the United Nations Mission to the DRC (MONUSCO), Martin Kobler, expressed his deep concern about the continued violence in Eastern DRC.

It is important that the M23 follows what has been agreed upon and declares the end of rebellion. The fighting has to stop. This will open the way to finalize the outstanding political questions.

"I urge all other armed groups, including the FDLR, not to take advantage of the fragile security situation. MONUSCO will act decisively on all attempts to exploit the situation" Kobler said.
