Goma, 27 July 2010 - MONUSCO North Kivu Brigade Commander, Kumar Sharma, inaugurated a Quick Impact Project (QIP) "Vocational Training Centre for the families of FARDC" and presented to FARDC authorities at Rutshuru during an official ceremony, on 19 Jul 2010, amidst presence of local authorities, prominent civil chiefs, government representatives and a large crowd of local population.

The QIP consists in the construction of a fully functional multidimensional vocational training center and includes two computers, three sewing machines and all necessary amenities. It has been executed at the cost of approximately 15 000 US dollars. The aim of this project is to enable and provide the FARDC soldiers' families, a neglected community, with the necessary skills for earning an additional income.

On the same day, General Ajae Kumar Sharma also dedicated the Mahatma Gandhi Children Park to the children of Rutshuru and Kiwanja, a parting gift by the Indian Blue Berets to the people of this area. The park has a volley ball court, elegant pathways, numerous swings and other play stations besides beautifully designed benches for elders to rest. The entire expenditure for its construction has been apportioned by each member of 2 JAK RIF (Bodyguard) Infantry Battalion Group. The Engineer Detachment of the unit has been instrumental in designing and creating the said park, not to forget the immense cooperation rendered by the locals.

Both constructions have been conceived and executed by INDBATT 2/XV towards the end of the unit's presence in DRC in order to strengthen the established bond of love and friendship between India and Congo. Indeed the 2 JAK RIF Infantry Battalion Group have achieved, over the past year, several constructions of this kind , a way to keep the bonds of friendship and love in the heart of the Congolese population long after having left the mission area.
