Ariwara, 14 March 2011 – For five days starting March 10, the Child Protection Section of the UN Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo (MONUSCO) held a workshop to inform both community leaders and students on the mandate of the Mission, as well as on the notions of Child Protection and Sexual Violence. All the participants hailed from Ariwara, a trading town in Aru territory, Ituri district on the border with Uganda.

The participants expressed satisfaction with this initiative, especially with regards to the issues of sexual violence and its repercussions, as well as the information with regards to the UN Security Council's Resolution 1621 on the Rights of the Child, and the Law on Child Protection in the DRC.
