Julie Masika : parcours de désarmement et de réinsertion

Julie Masika, a former combatant forcibly recruited for seven years, is reintegrating into society through the P-DDRC-S program (supported by MONUSCO). She is currently learning computer skills and plans to open a center to share these skills and aid other young people in their own reintegration.

Across the world, the international community celebrates United Nations Day as a symbol of solidarity and cooperation among nations. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, ceremonies were held in Ituri and North Kivu to mark this year’s commemoration, observed on 24 October.

A return to peace and dignity: MONUSCO's DDR&S Section supports foreign ex-combatants

Between January and October 2025, 44 ex-combatants—mainly members of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR)—and 54 of their dependents (98 people in total) were repatriated to their country of origin safely and with dignity.
