MONUSCO’s reaction to the daily Le Potentiel’ s article on US Senate’s possible sanctions against some Congolese

The headline of Le Potentiel’s article reads: “38 Congolese targeted by US Senate’s sanctions,” that “according to their sources, New-York reportedly added names with MONUSCO’s help; the Mission having declared itself concerned, through "the African" Maman Sidikou.

This statement is false. MONUSCO has a clear mandate in which there is no mention of any role of transmitting names to an institution for sanction.

MONUSCO denounces such allegations and asks media professionals to avoid any confusion and to abide by their professional code of conduct and ethics under which facts must be verified.
