This incident comes less than a week after approximately 3,500 civilians were moved to the MONUSCO base in Gina following clashes between two rival militias in the Djugu territory.

For several days now, security has deteriorated significantly in the Djugu territory, marked by murders, arson attacks, and kidnappings attributed to Codeco and CRP militiamen.

MONUSCO has established several fixed and mobile military bases, which provide daily protection to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons.
