Head of MONUSCO offers support to provincial authorities
NEW YORK / KINSHASA (9 April 2014) – Rape and sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) remain very serious concerns, with thousands of victims, in particular in the east of the country, over the past four years, according to a UN report released Wednesday.
Goma, 24 March 2014: Martin Kobler, the Head of MONUSCO announced this Monday the United Nations’ support for regulated, fair and clean exploitation of natural resources in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Kinshasa, 11 March 2014: “I urge all FDLR rebels to immediately break away from their leaders who are being prosecuted by justice, otherwise they will be forcibly disarmed,” declared Martin Kobler, the Head of MONUSCO.
