Goma,  Wednesday 16 March 2016 – Uruguayan Vice-President, Mr. Raul FERNANDO arrived in Goma  and was met at the airport by MONUSCO acting chief of office, Josiah Obat, the North-Kivu Vice-Governor, Mr. Feller LUTAICHIRWA, accompanied by government officials and civil society members. The purpose of his twenty-four hour visit is to see for himself the work done by the Uruguayan contingent on the ground, the Vice-President told the press.

Mr. Raul further told the press he came to meet the troops and see the terrain in which they are serving the mission; he later declared “We are very proud of our contingent.” It is worth noting that URUGUAYAN contingent is second in terms of staff strength among the Mission’s Force.
