Invisible Survivors: Girls in Armed Groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo From 2009 to 2015
The “Invisible Survivors” report attached, launched on 25 November 2015, is the second of its kind published by the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) on children associated with armed groups. It provides an overview of the patterns of recruitment and use of girls by armed groups. As confirmed by the report, there is abundant evidence that large numbers of girls are recruited and used by armed groups in the DRC but that most of them continue to be ‘invisible’.
