MONUSCO staff wins UN competition

Kisangani, 19 March 2013 - Jacques Kyassa Lofimbo, local staff working for the security department of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) in Kisangani, is the winner of the United Nations contest organized in December 2012 around the theme: "the needs for training within the UN peacekeeping missions over the next two years". A special prize I-POD phone was sent him by the United Nations headquarters in New York Tuesday 19 March 2013 at MONUSCO headquarters in Kisangani.

The prize was awarded him by the chief of MONUSCO Office in Kisangani, Helder De Barros, in the presence of Mission's officials, inter alia, Jean Wabo, chief of the Kinshasa Training unit who brought the prize from New York in a sealed envelope.

The contest on the needs for training over the next two years in the UN peacekeeping missions was launched in a meeting with heads of the UN training units in Brindisi, Italy on June 2012. They worked out questionnaires and sent them to the Field Missions Supportive Department (DFS) and the UN Peace Keeping Operations Department (DPKO). All the United Nations staff serving both institutions were invited to respond to the questionnaires on-line. The last question was "a lottery related question" about the training methods. Like many other staff members, Mr. Kyassa Lofimbo participated in the exercise by responding to the last question which made him the happy winner following a un tirage au sort. Congratulations to our colleague!
