Kisangani, 29 March 2011 –The Bangladeshi contingent deployed in Province Orientale in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has since the start of this year, been providing free medical care to the local population.

So far, orphanages, nursing homes, worshippers of all faith, and members of the Congolese Armed Forces (FARDC), as well as their dependents, have benefited from this service rendered. "We are treating common ailments like high blood pressure and bites from animals, among others", said Colonel Mozahed, chief military medical doctor of the Bangladeshi contingent.

Besides providing free consultations and treatment, they are also sensitizing the population against HIV/AIDS and other sexually-transmittable diseases.
