03 Sep 2016 - Kinshasa 3 September 2016 – On 31 August 2016, a man having introduced himself as FDLR combatant surrendered to MONUSCO DDR/RR staff in Sange (South-Kivu), to apply for his repatriation to Rwanda. After additional verification, MONUSCO suspects this person could be “Major Rafiki Castro Yacinthe” as allegedly being involved in gross human rights abuses against civilians, including the Kamananga slaughters in the South-Kivu province on 14 May 2012.
15 Aug 2016 - Kinshasa -14 August 2016. The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in DRC and Head of MONUSCO, Maman Sambo Sidikou, offers his condolences to the Congolese people in general and to the population of Beni in particular, following the attack on the civilian population during the night of 13 to 14 August 2016, in the village of Rwangoma in the Beni area, allegedly committed by the ADF.
02 Aug 2016 - Gbadolite, 31st July 2016 – On the occasion of the launch of the pilot operation on the revision of the voters’ register in the North Ubangi province, the United Nations recalls their support to the Congolese Government for a smooth implementation of the electoral process under the UNSC Resolution 2277.
16 Jul 2016 - The members of the Security Council stressed the crucial importance of a peaceful and credible electoral cycle, in accordance with the Constitution, for stability, development, and consolidation of constitutional democracy in the DRC.
02 Jul 2016 - Kinshasa, 2nd July 2016 - Following the demise of Reverend Father Apollinaire Malumalu in the night of Thursday 30th June 2016 in Dallas, USA, MONUSCO pays a glowing tribute to the man credited with organizing the first democratic elections in 2006.
This immense accomplishment will forever remain engraved in the annals of the DRC’s political history.

28 Jun 2016 - Kinshasa, 26 June 2016 – On the occasion of the commemoration of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, this 26 June 2016, the United Nations Joint Human Rights Office in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the National Human Rights Commission and Human Rights NGOs, organized in Kinshasa and across the country, a number of activities: training, sensitization, advocacy and dissemination in favor of different target groups.
27 May 2016 - Goma, eastern DRC, 26 May 2016 - The representatives of the Guarantors of the Peace, Security and Cooperation (PSC) Framework comprising of the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), travelled to Kanyabayonga and Nyamilima on 25 May 2016, in eastern DRC.
