MONUSCO Director of Public Information Office meets with journalists in Kisangani

Kisangani, 10 March 2016 – the Director of MONUSCO Public Information, Mr. Charles Antoine Bambara held a meeting with roughly forty journalists in the city of Kisangani on Thursday 10 March 2016.

 Right from the beginning, Mr. Charles Bambara said relationship between the Congolese government and MONUSCO is now excellent. He further told the journalists that the UN Mission and the Government are currently working on the resumption of the strategic dialogue and military cooperation as well as on the preparation for the upcoming elections.

Mr. Charles Bambara also highlighted that MONUSCO supports the African Union-led mediation in DRC by Edem Kodjo and is conducting an advocacy with the international community to back the Congolese electoral process.

“MONUSCO lays a special focus on the donors to make their contribution effective”, he said.

The Director of MONUSCO Public Information Division revealed that the Mission is closely monitoring the Congolese electoral process. “MONUSCO electoral unit is monitoring the election-related incidents; 17 cases have already been documented, 4 of whom having occurred in the city of Kisangani”, he said. In conclusion he advised the journalists against exacerbating the tensions.
