MONUSCO Trains Mbandaka Youth on the Core Concept of Peace

Mbandaka, 28 December 2010
– MONUSCO Civil Affairs Section in Mbandaka brought together a number of young men and women on 28 December 2010 to train them on the concepts of peace and conflict resolution. At the end of the training, a committee comprising ten youth leaders from the "Youth Committee for Peace," was set up to carry out sensitization activities on peace consolidation in the schools throughout the Equateur Province.

A number of working sessions were previously organized to sensitize the youth on the notions of conflict and peacemaking, thus enabling them to undertake, on their own, similar training sessions as from early January next year.

The Provincial Division Chief in the Ministry of Education, Calvin Ituta, welcomed the initiative and pledged his full support to the Youth Committee in their sensitization campaigns.
