National Police Trained on Securing the Electoral Process

Bunia, 26 December 2010
– As a prelude to the upcoming elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo, MONUSCO Police organized a training of trainers' session for the Congolese National Police in Bunia. The ten-day refresher course was launched on 16 December 2010, and the 30 participants were trained on how to secure the electoral process.

The new trainers are expected to be deployed throughout the Ituri district. Once at their posts, they will embark on training other police officers following a plan developed by the National Police Headquarters in Bunia. MONUSCO Police will provide assistance to the whole process.

This training was funded through UNDP's regional Office.
