Across the world, the international community celebrates United Nations Day as a symbol of solidarity and cooperation among nations. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, ceremonies were held in Ituri and North Kivu to mark this year’s commemoration, observed on 24 October.

The deputy governor of North Kivu paid tribute to the work accomplished by the United Nations alongside the Congolese people.

Adopted in October 2000, Security Council Resolution 1325 emphasizes the disproportionate impact of armed conflict on women and girls, as well as the need for their participation in peace processes.

This workshop aimed to share best practices, identify challenges encountered, and update the mapping of armed groups active in the province.

This day was an opportunity to raise awareness among young girls about their rights, their potential, and their role in building a better future in their region.

Peacekeepers continue to patrol the area, both day and night, to maintain a deterrent presence and prevent any further attacks.
