In Djaiba, in the territory of Djugu, Ituri, a public lighting project has been implemented to improve the security and living conditions of civilian populations, particularly displaced persons settled in the area and its surroundings.

The project was launched following the attack in March 2025 on the Djaiba and Lodha camps, attributed to CODECO rebels, which left more than 70 people dead.

At the end of the training, each participant received a certificate of apprenticeship issued by the Ministry of Vocational Training.

The discussions highlighted the concrete impact of rumors and hate speech, which have already been the cause of deadly violence in Butembo in recent years.

This initiative by the Prison Administration Support Unit, supported by the Gender Section and the United Nations Joint Human Rights Office, aims to encourage responsible and respectful behavior in prisons.

Beyond the sporting aspect, this refresher course aims to combat the discrimination often faced by people with reduced mobility and to encourage coexistence between able-bodied and disabled athletes.
