UNPOL assist Mpokolo Wa Moy care center in Kananga

Kananga, 15 June 2012 – A newly deployed Formed Police Unit of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) in Kananga, the capital of Kasaï Occidental province, visited on 12 June 2012 a care center named Mpokolo Wa Moy in the district of Katoka, to assist young orphans and persons at a loose end by providing them with a shelter, and helping them reintegrate social life.

Led by the chief of MONUSCO office in Kananga, Abdou Diouf, the delegation brought assistance consisting of essential food items. In addition, the contingent availed a medical doctor for free consultations and counseling for the vulnerable youths.

Mpokolo Wa Moy center was created in Kananga in 1992. Currently, it provides assistance to 122 people, most of whom orphans; currently 76 people live in the center.
