Training and Awareness Session for Human Rights Activists in Bunia

Bunia, 03 August 2013 – The United Nations Joint Human Rights Office organized from 30 through 31 July 2013 in Bunia a capacity-building workshop for human rights activists in the district of Ituri.

About twenty people including four women took part in the training on the professional ethics that guide human right activities. Participants had the opportunity to further their knowledge on the safe interview techniques for the victims and upgrade their skills on the drafting of reports on human rights violations. The training helped them understand the role of the human rights activists in respect of the protection and promotion of the human rights as well as successful advocacy for the victims.

The theoretical session was followed by discussions and practical exercises in work groups to help participants improve their performance in the field in terms of the victims' defense and protection.
